Considerations Regarding Classroom Rules

There are a few notes which you must consider when implementing classroom rules for kindergarten.

Make Parents Aware of the Rules

Make sure the parents are aware of the classroom rules and the rules that apply to them. For example, in many schools, students cannot bring peanut butter into the classroom. Therefore, you would need to make the parents aware of such a rule. Parents might also be responsible for checking their child's folder every night or sending them in with various items during the week.

Customize Rules When Necessary

Be aware of special situations which may necessitate special rules or a different implementation of the rules. If you have a child who has severe hearing loss, you will need to realize that his or her "indoor voice" might be quite louder than the other children's. In religious schools, you should also include rules about paying attention to morning prayer, participating in the prayer, and being respectful and participatory in worship services.
